Do I have ADHD & the best day paper planner

Do I have ADHD? I starting to wonder this myself as an adult a few years ago, especially after giving birth in 2008. 🤯 I've sought help for my attention woes by searching for the best day planner. Because that'll fix it, right?😄


But seriously, I do have attention deficient if I take the quiz a.k.a. psych eval form. Who the f*ck doesn't in this day and age? We literally have constant interruptions, pop-ups, messages, and overly busy lives continuously on a computer connected to the entire world while being expected to highly perform in a competitive environment completely out of sync with ourselves and nature. (That was possibly a runoff sentence but I HAD A LOT TO SAY!) We still have brains equipped to hunt and gather, live and be in tune with nature! It's not like I can calmly churn butter for 2 hours at a time or walk the forest in search of berries half the day. I mean I could and I would, but it's not my reality in my current life and I doubt it's yours.

Society and our bodies don't align.

And, you have to be drugged up not to have ADHD in current typical American society! And when I say drugged up, I mean this in good ways too. Drugged up simply means a trance state. Again, for the folks with ADHD....Drugged up = trance state. I'm constantly looking for ways to drug myself up!

Where can I get my trance on today?!

There's a constant dialog going on in my brain and body about keeping balance.

Brain: good morning, body. How ya feeling? Did you get enough sleep? Are you hungry? Do you need water? What emotions are you experiencing? How can we bring more peace and ease to this moment? Do you need this? Do you need that? What can you go without?

Body: I feel tired. I feel hungry. I feel_____.


The body speaks in feelings.

All day long. I'm in search of balance and I find it in trance.

We all need a good trance and we can find it at church, watching TV, listening to music, driving, running, taking legal drugs, meditation, gaming, planning, drumming, taking illegal drugs, drinking, eating, sex, watching sports, yoga, shopping for the best day planner, scrolling on a smartphone, being hypnotized or self hypnosis - the list goes on and on.

The options for entering a trance state abound and we as human beings have to enter trance often to survive!

I'm going to say it again....Trance is a necessary survival mechanism! Without trance, our natural fight-flight response system takes over and we find ourselves searching for ways to restore the balance. Often we grab whatever balancing solution is there and easy, what we've seen others do to soothe themselves. Usually it's the most advertised by corporate marketers! (Corporate marketers love that they can target with social media algorithms. One is being used right now and neither you nor I control it except by participating. Watch you'll get ads for planners on Facebook just by reading this blog. 😵‍💫😝

Sometimes, I'm not even mad about it because I am constantly on the prowl for that best day planner to help me manage my time and attention! 😆)


Ok, what are we talking about? Oh yeah, ADHD. 🤪I love my ADHD and I'm so glad people weren't throwing around those labels earlier in my life or I think it would've been easy to see myself as a victim of my own brain in that area (Don't worry, I did that in other areas!) Instead, I've come up with all sorts of ways to make my ADHD work for me. I have 4 part-time "jobs." I know I must have adequate sleep. I must keep My blood sugar balanced. I'm constantly on the move. I use a day planner. I take a lot of notes. I make a lot of lists. I only schedule activities for myself for sets amount of time. I use tools like my phone, day planners, timers, reminder apps. I meditate. I exercise to keep the crazy at bay. And I use self-hypnosis. And I do other stuff that's not so good too like binge eat and other stuff that I'm too embarrassed to admit on a public blog!!!

Pssst: (whispering) we all do!


People often ask how I do so much. What they don't realize is that I HAVE to. When I am moving fast, I'm thinking slow. I'm constantly putting myself into a trance state that allows me to claim

my power rather than it be destroyed by it. Because if I don't do a lot and keep my Brian busy, it falls apart. This is what works for me.

What works for me WILL NOT work for you!

You have to figure out what works for you.


As you figure this out for yourself, please....


Be kind to yourself

Remember there's no such thing as perfect

Honor and forgive yourself in doing what you have to do

Try to go for the healthier trance options

Ask for help. We all need help from time to time to snap out of whatever trance we might get stuck in.


Be kind to yourself. Release that self-judgment and criticism. Play with your energy and have fun figuring out how to make it your superpower. 🪄


Now, back to that day planner...
